Some of the most meaningful moments in family life happen in the middle of ordinary mornings making messes in the kitchen, sleepy smiles, tangled hair, and pancakes on the griddle. That’s exactly the sort of moments that my new Activity Sessions are designed to capture.
This session was a simple snapshot of real life: a mom, a dad, and their two daughters starting their day together. No big production just saving memories of connection you don’t always realize is special until you look back on it.

The heart of this session was in the kitchen. Everyone pitched in—stirring batter, flipping pancakes, sneaking tastes, and laughing along the way. The girls took their jobs very seriously (especially quality control), while mom and dad leaned into the fun right alongside them.
These are the moments that often pass in a blur, but in photos, they become something you can hold onto.

In between pancakes and play, there were softer moments too. Mom gently fixing the girls’ hair. Little hands reaching up for help. Small pauses that tell just as much of the story as the big laughs.
Activity Sessions aren’t just about the action, they’re about everything that lives in between.

We always make time for a handful of more traditional family portraits. You know, the kind you know will end up framed on the wall. But even those carry the same relaxed energy, because they’re built on what the family has already been doing: connecting, laughing, and being themselves.

Activity Sessions are about turning real life into meaningful memories. Instead of posing for every moment, families choose something they love to do together—baking, gardening, reading, playing games, going for a walk, or making pancakes—and I photograph it all as it naturally unfolds.
These sessions are:
They’re not just photos, they’re stories of your life, exactly as it is right now.

One day, these pancakes won’t be made the same way.
Little hands will grow.
Morning routines will change.
But these photos will always bring you back to how it felt: warm, busy, joyful, and full of love.
That’s the heart of an Activity Session.
If you’re dreaming of family photos that feel more like a memory than a photoshoot, an Activity Session might be exactly what you’re looking for. Let’s tell your family’s story just as it is right now. Contact Sarah here
