The Schmitz Family | One Year Milestone

Watching families grow is one of the very best parts of my job as a Northern Virginia family photographer. I’ve had the joy of photographing the Schmitz family through their Milestone Package, starting with maternity, newborn, and 6-month sessions (you can see the full round-up here). And just when I thought it couldn’t get sweeter, their 1-year session brought a double celebration… baby’s first birthday and the announcement that baby number two is on the way!

We split this session between cozy indoor moments and time outside among the blooming oak-leaf hydrangeas, which made the perfect backdrop for their joyful news. Their little one, full of personality and curiosity, got plenty of time in front of the camera while mom and dad snuck in a few maternity portraits to celebrate the next chapter.

That’s the beauty of milestone sessions, you never quite know what they’ll hold! From tiny newborn snuggles to big one-year grins (and in this case, an exciting surprise!), they tell the evolving story of your family in such an authentic, meaningful way.
